About Me
WHALE SHARK DATA MANAGER
After participating in Stars to Sea in 2021, MacKenzie fell in love with Bahía, its ecosystem, and community. As such, she is excited to lead the Whale Shark Data Team and to help facilitate the community science research done by VSI. MacKenzie is a marine biologist with an environmental science background, who is currently conducting cetacean research and marine protected species risk mitigation on survey vessels within the offshore wind industry. When not offshore, she spends her time traveling and hiking in the Pacific Northwest with her golden retriever, Ruby.
MacKenzie holds a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Environmental Science from Huxley College of the Environment at Western Washington University. She is currently working towards her Master of Arts degree in Biology within the Global Field Program at Miami University.
